Thawing Out
![]()
The Boston area has been experiencing somewhat of a "heatwave" this week. After over a month of rediculously heavy snowfall and near subzero temperatures, we've seen many days this week reach up into the mid 40s. Tomorrow it's rumored to hit near 60 degrees.
I know those of you who live in warmer climates may laugh at the fact that I'm refering to 40 degrees as being a heat wave, but if you've experienced the single digits in Boston, then you know why 40 is such a big deal.
As the region beings to thaw out, I would like to use this time to take a look back at one of the ugliest winters this city has faced in a long time.
One major headache that we faced during these winter storms was the morning commute. Delays on all forms of mass transit left riders stranded in the cold for 30 minutes or more. The pictures below is just one of main similar scenes that played out throughout the region.
This the picture is of the Englewood stop on the Green Line. A ways down you can see Cleveland Circle, which is the begining of the line. Apparently there was a disabled train at Cleveland Cir. which created this long line at Englewood. Needless to say that passengers were not happy.
There are two shots, one normal and the other was modified using the Camera+ app on the iPhone.
